Join colleagues Friday, January 6, for a full-day workshop focused on creating new proposals for General Education courses or realigning current General Education courses for the COMAR categories. For the Fall 2024 General Education Rollout:

  • Proposals due by March 1, 2023 – Communicating Through Writing; Experiential Learning; Hands-on Science; Human Expression; Humanity in Context; Personal Wellness; Quantitative Analysis; Social Configurations; Social Issues; Solutions Through Science

  • Proposals due by September 1, 2023 – Civic and Community Engagement; Diversity and Inclusion; Environment and Sustainability; First Year Seminar

Call for Proposals Due Today: SU Teaching and Learning Conference

Mark your calendars for Friday, February 17, 2023, as SU hosts our annual Teaching and Learning Conference (TLC) from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
 
The annual SU TLC brings together teacher-scholars across campus to share and discuss teaching innovations and best practices. A call for proposals is currently open for 20-minute sessions, 40-minute sessions, panel discussions (up to four presenters) or poster presentations on a variety of themes related to the scholarship of teaching and learning. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Promoting student wellness and sense of belonging
  • Inclusive pedagogy (diversity, equity and inclusion)
  • Culturally responsive and anti-racist pedagogy
  • General Education
  • Innovative teaching strategies
  • Best-practices for online and hybrid learning 
 

The extended deadline to submit your session proposal is Tuesday, December 13!

Call for Faculty Spring Travel Grants

The Faculty Development Committee (FDC) is calling for applications for Travel Grants, in support of faculty travel to be completed between January 1-May 31, 2023. 

 

Deadline for Application: 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022. No applications will be accepted after this deadline. The maximum amount of each grant is $400. A faculty member may receive only one grant per academic year. More specifically, if a faculty member receives a grant during the June 1 through December 31 funding cycle, they will not be eligible to receive another award during the January 1 through May 31 funding cycle. 

 

Should you choose to apply for a grant, please go to the FDC Travel Grant website at https://webapps.salisbury.edu/ftga/ and submit your application online. The Call for Applications for Faculty Development Travel Grants is available on this website. Please read the call carefully. 

 
Your login and password for the website are your SU login and passwordAfter you have submitted your application, please verify your submission by making sure that: 

  • The website should indicate your application number; AND
  • Your current application information is identified as accepted or is being processed when you check the status of your application on the FDC Travel Grant website.

December Extended Hours

ID&D is extending our office hours to help support faculty with the end-of-the-fall regular and seven-week two sessions as well as those teaching winter 2023. Our extended hours (Eastern time) both in person and virtually are as follows:

  • December 12-15: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Friday, December 16: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

  • December 19-21: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Thursday, December 22: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (last day campus is open before winter break)
 

Faculty are invited to call, visit in person or schedule a virtual appointment

End-of-Semester Grade Deadlines

End-of-semester grades in GullNet are due as follows:

  • Fall 7W2: Monday, December 19 • Noon
  • Fall Regular Session: Thursday, December 22 • Noon
 

Please note that December 22 is the last day before the winter break, so the best gift to the Registrar's Office and other campus units is to submit your grades by the above deadlines!

Check your email for additional information from the Registrar's Office about end-of-semester grading or visit their Faculty and Staff Resources site for GullNet grading instructions.
