Summer and Fall 2021 Course Materials Due by March 5, Including TurningPoint (Clickers)

If you are planning to use TurningPoint response/clicker system in your classroom during the 2021 summer term or fall semester, please make sure the SU Bookstore is aware of this requirement as part of the required course materials. This is usually requested as part of the book adoption form and will help the Bookstore plan and supply enough inventory based on course enrollment.

When requested as one of the required course materials, your course will be listed on the Clicker Courses page on the website, and “TurningPoint” account subscription/license and other purchase options will be listed with the required course materials in the Bookstore course selection search for your course/section.

Additionally, if you are searching for Open Educational Resources (OER), the library offers a tool from EBSCO called Faculty Select to help you find e-textbooks and other course e-books that will not cost your students a penny to use.

Mid-Semester Checking In with Students – Formative Course Feedback in Commons

Continuous course improvement and a positive learning experience for students are teaching goals that all instructors across disciplines and modalities should strive for. It's easy to stick with teaching routines or to reuse content, activities and assessments from semester to semester, but it's important to update course elements to best suit the needs of your students. A key way to help your students succeed is to solicit student feedback during your course.

While end-of-semester course evaluations can be a great source for student feedback about a course and instructor, it comes at a time that is too late for the current learners. Instead, consider adding a formative feedback strategy to ask students what is working (or not) so far in the course. ID&D has provided a Formative Course Assessment survey template in the Canvas Commons.

Not sure how to import content from the Canvas Commons? We have a video tip for that!

February Workshop Offerings

ID&D is offering a workshop on CidiLabs Design Tools on Friday, February 26, for formatting design elements in your course. To view more details about each session and to register for one or more workshops, please go to the Faculty Development Calendar.

Note: There will be no workshop offering on Friday, February 19, so that everyone can attend the 11th Annual Teaching and Learning Conference!
