Baby Steps to MyClasses - Friday, April 30

Do computers frustrate you?

Does MyClasses overwhelm you?

Are you new to using MyClasses?

Then this is the workshop for you!

In this workshop, you will be with other like-minded individuals, guided through the very basics that will make you feel 100% more computer savvy after just 45 minutes. So, grab a drink and a snack and join fellow faculty member Karen Silverstrim as she walks you through the terms and structure of what MyClasses is and can do for you. You will have an online playground course to try things out, and Karen will be there to help answer all your questions.

This workshop is Friday, April 30, from 1-2 p.m. Registration is required. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Faculty Learning Community - Call for Proposals

Faculty Learning Community (FLC) proposals are now being accepted for the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year. Your proposal can be for a cohort-based or topic-basic FLC. The proposal should be developed by the prospective FLC facilitator(s) with a budget not to exceed $2,500 (final awards may be modified in light of prevailing budgetary considerations). A newly designed online FLC proposal form and an FLC scoring rubric are both available at the Faculty Learning Communities website.

The due date for proposals is Friday, April 30. For more information on FLCs and the application process, please visit the Faculty Learning Communities website.

New Quizzes to Replace Quizzes Tool in MyClasses

In a year, starting with the summer 2022 session, the Quizzes feature in MyClasses will change!

Quizzes will be replaced with the New Quizzes functionality, and a few faculty have piloted New Quizzes during spring 2021. New Quizzes offers additional question types, additional assessment delivery options, the ability to share questions banks (now called item banks) and the ability to setup accommodations for students for all assessments in a course. A comparison of Quizzes and New Quizzes features is available in the Canvas Community.

ID&D will be holding four informative and interactive sessions on New Quizzes during the following days/times:

  • Monday, May 24 • 10-11:30 a.m.
  • Monday, May 24 • 1-2:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 25 • 10-11:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday, May 25 • 1-2:30 p.m.

Please register for a session through the Faculty Development Calendar and we hope to have additional faculty use New Quizzes in summer 2021 and fall 2021.
