Winter and Spring Courses Created in MyClasses on November 2

Winter and Spring courses will be created in MyClasses on November 2, and instructors will be enrolled at the same time. Students will be enrolled in courses starting on December 1 and enrollment will be updated daily.

If you have multiple sections that need to be combined, please use our MyClasses Combine Sections request located under the MyClasses requests section of the ID&D Support Center. Faculty participating in the Inclusive Access textbook program should request sections be combined at least four weeks prior to the start of the semester.

Equipment Checkout - No Longer an ID&D Service

In a review of support and services, ID&D is ending the equipment checkout service. We will no longer be checking out laptops, projectors, cameras, etc. This decision was based on the declining demand of this lending service and increase in faculty using laptops on campus. Faculty may still use ID&D licensed software, such as Camtasia and iSpring, in the Faculty Development studio at designated machines, but laptops with this software will no longer be available to borrow for take-home use.

New MyClasses Feature - Recent History

Recent viewing history list expended from the Global Navigation Menu

Canvas has updated with a new feature that you may find useful in MyClasses: a recent viewing history. This viewing history tracks any pages or files you access in MyClasses and stores it as a quick link to return to. Recent history will display pages viewed in Canvas up to the last three weeks. If you removed a page from your course, the link will remain in the history, but the link will no longer be valid.

Turnitin New Feature - Flags Indicator

Flags for review displayed from Turnitin insights panel

In rare cases, a student may try to manipulate a paper submission in an attempt to "trick" Turnitin results. The three common forms of manipulation are to replace sections of text with images of text, to replace text with characters that looks like text (such as Greek symbols), and to hide text skew the overall percentage of text in the submission.

The new Turnitin Flags Indicator in the Insights Panel is meant to flag potential forms of character replacement and hidden text manipulation. A flag does not indicate that the submission has been manipulated, but that indicators suggest taking a closer look to verify that these strategies have not been utilized.

ID&D Workshops Offerings

ID&D is offering workshops in October and November that focus on CidiLabs Design Tools, MyClasses Gradebook, Panopto, Respondus, and Office 365 and will also be hosting a focused Q&A session with MyClasses Tips and Tricks. The CidiLabs Design Tools, MyClasses Gradebook, Panopto, Respondus, and Office 365 workshops will require registration, while the Q&A session will be more informal and therefore won't require registration.
