Trending Across Campus: May Specials

Guerrieri Academic Commons, Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company

  • There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a frozen creamsicle on a warm day. Run by CBRC all month for this delicious fro-cho flavor.

Guerrieri Academic Commons, Hungry Minds

  • After all this time, the ‘Big Gull’ is back and only at Hungry Minds. Bigger and tastier than that sandwich they offer at that place with the arches. Two burgers, American cheese, shredded lettuce and creamy thousand island dressing. Taste the difference during the month of May.

Guerrieri Student Union, Cool Beans

  • Summer is around the corner, which means it’s time for our sixth annual Summer Smoothie Spectacular. Drop in and try all our student-made creations. The Cool Beaner whose smoothie has the most sales will win our internal contest, but you can win too! Grab a Summer Smoothie punch card. After you’ve purchased six featured smoothies, add your email to the back of the card and drop it in the box for a chance to win – prize to be announced.

Bites from the Dietician

Yes, Americans do have nutrient deficiencies. Here’s why that should concern you.

Are you deficient in at least one vitamin or mineral essential for good health? This may be surprising, but some studies suggest you have an almost one in three chances of being at risk. Risk is even greater when nutrient insufficiencies are considered.

You may be wondering if this risk is really that bad. I mean, what really happens if you’re low in one or two vitamins or minerals? The answer is that there is a lot to be concerned about. Vitamins and minerals are called “essential” for a reason: they truly are essential for optimal health. Your body needs important nutrients to function correctly. If you are low in those nutrients, you could experience issues with your physical and mental health.
