Changes in MyClasses

Canvas updates monthly to respond to community requests for changes, additions, and fixes to improve the end-user experience for both faculty and student needs. Sometimes these changes seem minor but improve ease of use, and sometimes the changes are more comprehensive. Below are some of the most recent changes that you may see reflected in MyClasses or that you may want to enable and explore in preparation for the spring 2024 semester:

All Courses Link Relocated

After clicking Courses on the global navigation, the All Courses link has been reloated from the bottom to the top of the list.

Discussions Redesign

The Discussions look and features have been redesigned to provide a discussion experience that aligns more to a social media thread look and feel. The redesign also applies to Announcements. This change will be enforced in MyClasses on July 20, 2024, but you can enable this feature optionin your course to start using it now!

New Assignment Submission Type: Student Annotation

A new assignment type for the Online submission option is Student Annotation. This is not a social annotation feature, but is instead a student can annotate a file uploaded by an instructor and is submitted privately directly to you as the instructor (unless peer review is used, in which assigned peers would have access to student annotations). This assignment type essentially allows students to use the Annotation tools to leave comments on a file that you assign.

Student Assignment View Allows Visibility of Multiple Submissions

The assignment submission student view allows students to see all previous submission attempts and any grades/feedback on those previous attempts (where previously they could only see grades/feedback on their last attempt). You can always engage with your own assignments and see what MyClasses assignments looks like for students using the Student View option.
