Event: Creating Course Alignment Maps

Date: Tuesday, January 16, 2024

Location: Academic Commons 221
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The concept of alignment is intended to convey the idea that critical course components (course materials, assignments, assessments and tools/technology) work together to ensure that learners achieve the desired learning outcomes. In this in-person workshop, you'll explore the concept and components of alignment, how to identify if they exist in your course and create an alignment map for a course — ideally, one of your own — that can be used to identify gaps and strengthen alignment.

This workshop is intended for faculty who are working on course development for Fall 2024 general education courses as well as online and hybrid courses. Facilitated by a representative from Quality Matters, this workshop can help faculty meet the course/alignment map required as part of the Course Worksheet when submitting a course for official QM review.

Questions about this workshop can be directed to Melissa Thomas (mdthomas@salisbury.edu). Registration closes January 8, 2024.

Brush Up Your Skills in our January Workshops!

While it may be true that you are using MyClasses each semester to help deliver your course content, Canvas is constantly updating available features in MyClasses based on the pedagogical needs of faculty. Many faculty reuse course content from semester to semester without checking out or considering the changes they can make to level up their MyClasses course content/assignment. Join us during our January workshops to brush up on your MyClasses skills and tweak your MyClasses course to improve the student experience!

Instructional Design and Delivery is offering pedagogical and instructional technology workshops for the start of the semester. Workshop descriptions and registration are available in the Faculty Development Calendar.
