Matt (AKA "Bert") Bertone ’01

 

After graduating from Salisbury with a B.S. in biology, Matt pursued graduate education at North Carolina State University. After receiving his Ph.D., he was offered a position at the university, which eventually led to him being the director of the Plant Disease and Insect Clinic. Matt feels like he was in the right place at the right time.

We’re excited to announce that our next book for the Salisbury University Alumni Book Club is Humble Pi: When Math Goes Wrong in the Real World by Matt Parker.  You also have the opportunity to sign up for a live Q/A Author Talk at the end of the reading period. There is no cost to participate – you just have to get a copy of the book to enjoy. This reading period begins on October 14.

Alumni Homecoming and Family Weekend

 

Plans are set for Alumni Homecoming and Family Weekend for the week of October 18-24 this fall on campus. We are hosting a variety of activities for everyone and registrations are now open. Special events include reunions for the Class of 1971 and 1976, a Seidel School brunch and virtual wine tasting, and School of Social Work and Communication Department happy hours. The Flock Party is back this year at Sea Gull Stadium featuring Cult Classic Brewery and Sposato Family Vineyards. There will be tables for Fulton, Seidel, Perdue, Henson, College of Health and Human Services, Center for Student Achievement and Office of Diversity and Inclusion to stop by and visit. On Sunday, we end the week with our annual Run the Boards Like Rob memorial 5K and walk in Ocean City in memory of Rob Schultheis '00, past Alumni Association president.

Run The Boards Like Rob

 

SU honors late Alumni Association Past President Rob Schultheis by partnering with organizations for the annual Run the Boards Like Rob memorial 5K and walk on the Ocean City boardwalk.

Teams can be two-five people, but only one team member should register for the entire group. Registrant should list all team members in the registration form.
