Academic Dashboard

The ESRGC in partnership with Salisbury University’s University Analysis, Reporting and Assessment (UARA) Office are developing a series of dashboards to explore student-level data related to degrees, student success, and enrollment for the purposes of planning and decision making. These publicly accessible tools offer interactive visualizations enabling users to view data overtime and filter by school, program and other demographics. The Degrees, Enrollment and Credit Hours Dashboards are complete and accessible from the

Salisbury University website.

Partnership with PACE

ESRGC helped PACE create a voter-dashboard highlighting voter data to explore trends across the space and time at the county, legislative district and municipal levels. The dashboard was created utilizing Power BI technology.

PACE also requested assistance with various maps for their Presidential Citizen Scholars PCS Capstone projects. Three of the Presidential Citizen Scholars are working on a bioremediation project proposed for a site on Old Ocean City Rd.

Lower Eastern Shore LiDAR Services

The ESRGC's GIS Circuit Rider Program is excited to offer new LiDAR derived products available as web services for Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties. The products are based on 2020 tide-coordinated LiDAR and include contours, canopy height models, digital elevation models, digital surface models and other data layers for analysis. The GIS Circuit Rider Program is supported by the Tri-County Council of the Lower Eastern Shore through the Rural Maryland Council and Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Funds. The web services are available on the ESRGC's REST directory. Learn more about how the ESRGC expands services with new LiDAR products.

Upper Shore Imagery Services

The ESRGC's GIS Circuit Rider Program continues to support GIS in the Upper Shore Counties by offering dynamically rendered image services of 2022 imagery data. The State of Maryland captured aerial imagery for the Eastern Shore of Maryland in spring 2022 and made tiles of the imagery available for download. The ESRGC mosaiced the tiles to create county color imagery and color infrared imagery for Cecil, Kent and Queen Anne's counties. The image services allow users to view the data at the source resolution and provide access to color infrared imagery – both of which are not currently available from the State. The ESRGC plans to expand this service to all of Maryland's Eastern Shore counties in the upcoming months. The GIS Circuit Rider Program is supported by the Upper Shore Regional Council through the Rural Maryland Council and Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Funds. Access the image services here.

Spotlight: Adam Phipps-Dickerson

The Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative (ESRGC) at Salisbury University regularly features a current or former intern for our Intern Spotlight. The ESRGC provides geographic information system (GIS) technology, data, technical support and training to governments, businesses and non-profit organizations in Maryland and across the Mid-Atlantic. Since launching in 2004, the ESRGC has provided valuable paid internships to hundreds of Salisbury University students, allowing them to learn real-world skills that prepare them for a direct transition to the workforce. ESRGC internships range from analyzing databases for local governments to field verifying broadband access in rural areas, and everything in between. For more information on how your organization could leverage the advantage of this inexpensive, highly-motivated, technical GIS intern, or how to apply for an internship, please contact Lauren McDermott at ldmcdermott@salisbury.edu.
