The General Education Professional Development Faculty Learning Community (FLC) has been developing suggestions and opportunities to help and reward faculty preparing courses for the new General Education program. The work of the Gen. Ed. PD FLC has primarily focused on the three SU-specific “tagged” areas of Civic & Community Engagement, Diversity & Inclusion, and Sustainability, but they believe the conversations and resulting outcomes can be applicable in any of the General Education areas. Since weekly meetings began in September, the FLC has found consonance between successful programs on the SU campus and other universities. After finding consensus on a suggested model of eight synchronous sessions and financial compensation for faculty, the FLC began outlining possible topics for the meetings, leaving final content development to advisory subcommittee members and other experts. The Gen. Ed. PD FLC invites you to the first of several opportunities to attend a three-day workshop to prepare for the submission of “tagged” (those indicated above) and first year seminar courses for approval in the new General Education program. Sessions are May 24-26, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Register Today |
