International Language and Food Festival

International Language and Food Festival headline picture with global globe, plate , spoon, and fork

The Teaching with International Students (TwINS) Faculty Learning Community cordially invites faculty, staff and students to join us at our International Language and Food Festival, for a celebration of some of the languages and cultures represented on our campus by international students. We will learn about their languages and cultures, and taste samples of food and snacks representative of their culture. This event is on Friday, May 3, from 3-5 p.m., at the Ernie Bond Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) in Conway Hall, and it is open to students, faculty, and staff. There will be food and refreshments.

SU Campus Legend Walking Tours

Picture of SU courtyard at night time.

Dr. Basham and the students in her HONR 211: Campus Legends and Mysteries class would like to invite all members of the SU community to the free SU campus legend tours on 4/23 at 6:30pm and 4/25 at 6:30 p.m. We will meet in front of Manokin at 6:15-6:20 p.m. each evening and the tours should be over by 8:30 p.m.

Each evening, a different group of HONR 211 students will lead the tour of the SU campus. Each student will tell their original SU legends that they created based on the research they conducted earlier in the semester. The tour is family-friendly, but some legends will touch on sensitive topics such as sex, racism, murder, suicide, and death. Feel free to advertise the tours and bring along your students, colleagues, friends, and families!

We hope to see many of you on the tours! If you have any questions, feel free to email Vicky Basham at vvbasham@salisbury.edu.

Thank A Teacher Week: May 6-10

SU Thanks You! In honor of Thank a Teacher Week, SU invites you to "Thank a Teacher." At SU we recognize and celebrate our exceptional faculty at all levels for their tireless commitment to teaching, research, service, mentorship, innovation, and transformative impact on students, the University, and society.

Each May, the University System of Maryland Council for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning joins the Kirwan Center for Academic Innovation in planning faculty and instructor recognition activities as part of Thank A Teacher Week. This event coincides with the National Teacher Appreciation Week, which also is this week!

Students are invited to share their gratitude by writing a note on a physical postcard or by sending a note virtually. Students are asked to look for tables in the Guerrieri Academic Commons and the Guerrieri Student Union outside the Commons where they can sign postcards. Last year, faculty and staff took advantage of this opportunity to share gratitude with colleagues.
