As a precursor to Salisbury University hosting the Maryland OER SUmmit: Cultivating Agency through Open Educational Resources on Friday, December 1, 2023, we’d like to provide two SU resources to give you a brief primer on the main themes of the event: Briefly, open pedagogy is both: - the open sharing of teaching practices where you invite your students to be part of the teaching process to give them greater agency over their education, and
- using openly licensed materials to support the teaching and learning process.
Openly licensed materials are known as open educational resources (OER). OER is recognizable by your ability to retain, revise, remix, reuse, and redistribute the learning material under various Creative Commons Licenses. These materials are free for you and your students to use, modify, and make them your own. On December 1, SU will be hosting universities and presenters from across the state of Maryland to share their research and experiences using open pedagogy, OERs, Artificial Intelligence (AI), H5P authoring tool, accessibility, engagement, and many other teaching practices.
