National Distance Learning Week - November 6-10

National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) is November 6-10. SU currently offers:

• 2 doctoral online programs
• 4 master's online programs
• Undergraduate and graduate programs at 7 satellite locations
• Approximately 15% of all course sections are offered in hybrid, online or remote modalities each academic year

Celebrate NDLW by participating in the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) week-long series of webinars as they celebrate the NDLW 16th anniversary edition theme of how artificial intelligence is redefining distance learning in the year 2023. To learn more about the free, virtual series of webinars, visit the National Distance Learning Week website.

Student Search for Courses with Affordable Course Materials Available in GullNet

Based on course material adoptions through the SU Bookstore, all winter and spring 2024 course sections using free or low-cost (under $50) course materials have been identified in GullNet as affordable course material courses.

Students can use this Affordable Course Material attribute to search for courses with low or free course materials. Please promote this feature to students during academic advising.

Winter and Spring 2024 Courses Created in MyClasses

Winter and spring 2024 courses will be created in MyClasses on November 1, and instructors will be enrolled at the same time. Daily reports will run to update course, section and instructor enrollments. 

Students will be enrolled in courses starting on December 1 and enrollment will be updated daily. 

Faculty who would like to combine course sections should use the Course Combine Sections request in the ID&D Support Center. Deadline to request combining course sections, especially for courses using course materials in the Inclusive Access program through the SU Bookstore, are:   

• Winter 2024 Session: December 19, 2023 
• Spring 2024 Regular and 7W1 Sessions: January 15, 2024 
• Spring 2024 7W2 Session: March 11, 2024 

Virtual Inclusion by Design Summit on November 3

On Friday, November 3, from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. the Universal Design Center (UDC) at Montgomery College (MC) is hosting a FREE virtual Inclusion by Design Summit. This event will include interactive workshops, speed sessions, networking and a keynote from Dr. Jingrong Xie, director of Universal Design for Learning and Accessibility Services at Virginia Tech.
