New Features in New Quizzes

Grade by question option in SpeedGrader

Canvas, the Learning Management System (LMS) that supports MyClasses, updates on a regular basis, adding and updating features based on feedback from users like you. This is also true of New Quizzes, which will replace Classic Quizzes summer 2024. ID&D will continue to communicate updates to New Quizzes features and offer training on New Quizzes as we prepare for the summer 2024 transition.

Features that are available in New Quizzes as of this month include grading by question in SpeedGrader and sharing an item bank to a current course when in the New Quizzes Build page. For more information about these changes, you can review the Canvas Release Notes from April 15.

Workshop Session on Using New Quizzes: Creating and Migrating Assessments in MyClasses

Want to learn more about New Quizzes? Each month during the fall and spring semesters, ID&D facilitates an online "Using New Quizzes: Creating and Migrating Assessments in MyClasses" workshop.

Workshop Description: Learn how to create and manage online assessments, establish assessment settings, and create and manage question item banks using New Quizzes (which replaces Classic Quizzes in June 2024). In addition to creating assessments and Item Banks in New Quizzes, we will discuss the various pedagogical strategies for assessment construction. Discussion on the appropriate method to migrate assessments from Classic Quizzes to New Quizzes is included in this workshop. Thank a Teacher Week: May 8-12

Each May, the University System of Maryland Council for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning joins the Kirwan Center for Academic Innovation in planning faculty and instructor recognition activities as part of Thank a Teacher Week. This event coincides with the National Teacher Appreciation Week, which is May 8-12.

Students are invited to share their gratitude by writing a note on a physical postcard or by sending a note virtually to faculty, coaches, mentors and staff who have made an impact on their lives. Students are asked to look for tables in the Guerrieri Academic Commons and the Guerrieri Student Union outside of Chick-fil-A where they can sign postcards. Last year, faculty and staff took advantage of this opportunity as well to share gratitude to colleagues.

Students are receiving communication via email and a MyClasses announcement regarding this event. More information is available at: www.salisbury.edu/thanks.
