Faculty Development Day 2024 Recap

Thank you to everyone who attended the annual Faculty Development Day on August 21, 2024. This year, we were fortunate to have Dr. May Imad as our guest speaker, who delivered an outstanding presentation, Reparative Humanism in Higher Education: Recasting Agreements that Govern Teaching & Learning. Additional articles about this topic, authored or co-authored by Dr. Imad, are available via this link to the Google file.

Pedagogy Tip: Trauma Informed Teaching Practices

As Dr. Imad discussed in her presentation about reparative humanism, trauma is often considered an individual experience. Trauma informed pedagogy infuses teaching practices that recognizes how trauma impacts a person's relationship to others, impacting how they engage with communities (including classroom communities). These practices also recognize the collective impact of trauma on a community both over time (based on community engagement), as well as through shared traumatic experiences (such as COVID).

Cristea Presents at the Summer Student Research Showcase

Haley Cristea, ID&D instructional designer and graduate student in the Literacy Studies doctoral program, presented on Understanding the Multimodal Literacies of Faculty in Disciplinary Postsecondary Classrooms at the 2024 Summer Student Research Showcase. Congratulations to Haley and one step closer to finishing your doctoral program!
