Creation of Fall 2023 Courses in MyClasses

Calendar reminder: Thursday June 1 - Create Fall 2023 Courses in MyClasses

Fall courses will be created in MyClasses on June 1, and instructors will be enrolled at the same time. Students will be enrolled into fall courses starting on August 1. Updates to courses and instructor enrollments will be updated once per day at 6 p.m. until August 14 when the reports will run every four hours.

If you have multiple sections that need to be combined, please use our MyClasses Combine Sections request located under the MyClasses requests section of the ID&D Support Center. Faculty participating in the Inclusive Access textbook program should request sections be combined at least four weeks prior to the start of the semester.

Course Copy Information

If you are looking to import content from a previous or current course into a future semester, ID&D has a video tip about the copy/import content process. Before you course copy, please note these useful tips:

  • Did You Use Zoom? If you are using the Zoom tool in your course, you do not want to import all content because you will import your old Zoom meetings with this option. Instead, choose the Select Content option and select all content EXCEPT for your calendar items (4:23 in this video tip).
  • Share Content with Peers. You can also share certain resources with your peers if you only need to share one or two pieces of content with a peer instead of an entire course  (or share to yourself if you prefer to use this instead of the Course Import option). Watch the Sharing Content video tip for more information about sharing content options and limitations.
  • Shift Due Dates. Remember that you can Shift Due Dates to approximate your course schedule. However, the system will not account for gaps in assignment due dates from breaks, such as spring break or holiday breaks. If you choose to shift due dates, remember to verify them!
  • Verify Your Links! After you have imported content into your new course, remember to validate your links! This will check for links to files, other resources in the course (pages, assignments, etc.) and external links to websites outside of MyClasses. (Note: If you have questions about any of the results, consult with your ID liaison.)

Student Search for Fall 2023 Courses with Affordable Course Materials Now Available in GullNet

An example of a students view of options related to class selection criteria. The Course Attribute dropdown includes Free Course Resources and Low Cost Course Resources as options for students to select when searching for classes to register for.

A new search feature is available in GullNet for students to find course sections using free or low-cost (under $50) course materials. A new course attribute has been created by the Registrar's Office for course sections that declare that they are using either free course materials or low cost course resources.

The Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFE) in collaboration with the SU Bookstore, Registrar's Office and ID&D has added this course attribute to summer and fall 2023 course sections based on course material adoptions provided to the Bookstore.
