Summer 2025 Accessibility Bootcamp June 9-13

ID&D will be leading a 5-Day Accessibility Challenge the week of June 9-13, 2025 (with Tuesday's session being held Monday afternoon to honor Employee Appreciation Day). Each session focuses on formatting and requirements for digital accessibility and is scheduled for a 2-hour workshop session where you will be able to learn strategies related to making text, links, images/graphics, tables, documents/forms, and audio or video content digitally accessible.  We encourage you to bring your own examples to work with during the workshop.

 

The days/topics to be covered are listed below:

 

  • Monday, June 9, 9-11 a.m.: Fonts and Formatting - Laying the Foundation for Readability. 
  • Monday, June 9, 1-3 p.m.: Links and Lists - Navigation and Structure.
  • Wednesday, June 11, 9-11 a.m.: Alt Text, Tables and Forms - Providing Context and Applying Design Considerations.
  • Thursday, June 12, 9-11 a.m.: Videos and Audio - Multimedia Accessibility. 
  • Friday, June 13, 9-11 a.m.: PDFs, Accessibility Checkers and Other Considerations - Validation and Inclusivity.

Participants who attend all five sessions and/or combine the live sessions with the online course will earn a digital accessibility advocate microcredential.

Summer Writing Challenge

Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence at Salisbury University

Register for theNational Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD)’s 14-day writing challenge from June 16 - June 29. Anyone who registers and everyone else who wants to join us for summer writing should indicate interest by completing this form.

Important Dates for Summer 2025 Sessions

ID&D wants to share some important dates to consider for summer regular, 5 Week 1 and 5 Week 2 sessions. Individuals who want to combine sections in MyClasses should request this action two weeks prior to the start of the session.

 

Summer regular session:

  • May 28: Student access to courses (if published)
  • June 4: Start of regular session
    • Drop/Add dates: June 4-6
    • Inclusive Access opt-out date: June 6
     
  • July 18: Last day to withdraw from course
  • August 15: Last day of class and final exams
  • August 18: Grades due in GullNet by noon
 

Summer 5W1 session:

  • May 28: Student access to courses (if published)
  • June 4: Start of 5W1 session
    • Drop/Add dates: June 4-5
    • Inclusive Access opt-out date: June 6
     
  • June 25: Last day to withdraw from course
  • July 11: Last day of class and final exams
  • July 14: Grades due in GullNet by noon
 

Summer 5W2 session:

  • July 7: Student access to courses (if published)
  • July 14: Start of 5W2 session
    • Drop/Add dates: July 14-15
    • Inclusive Access opt-out date: July 16
     
  • August 1: Last day to withdraw from course
  • August 15: Last day of class and final exams
  • August 18: Grades due in GullNet by noon
 

Save the Date: August 27 - AI and Higher Education

Save the Date

Mark your calendars and plan to attend the annual Faculty Development Day from 8:30 a.m. - noon on Wednesday, August 27. This year's theme will be "Artificial Intelligence and Higher Education." The event is being planned by the Exploring Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in the Classroom Faculty Learning Community and the Faculty Development Committee.

 

Highlights will include:

  • Results from the campuswide AI survey
  • Updates from SU's Artificial Intelligence Task Force
  • Breakout sessions related to AI within Teaching & Learning
 

Additional details will be provided as the planning continues.
